G-Shock announced the release of the all-new G-SQUAD GBD-200 series, a new addition to the sports-driven G-SQUAD line in the G-SHOCK family of shock-resistant watches. Inheriting the iconic square-shaped case design of the very first G-SHOCK, these compact new watches offer convenient functionality for workouts as well as everyday use. The launch models include the black GBD-200-1JF, blue GBD-200-2JF, and yellow (or fluorescent lime) GBD-200-9JF. Today, we’d like to introduce the black one, GBD-200-1JF.
The Remarkable Designs Made It Worth Collecting
The GBD-200-1JF boasts a new, smaller profile design for the case, which is 2.0mm slimmer, 8.8mm shorter, and 3.4mm narrower compared to the predecessor GBD-100.
To make the watch look even slimmer, the case, bezel and other parts are carefully designed to appear flat when viewed from the side. The band is made of soft urethane to provide outstanding ventilation and flexibility and ensure a snug fit on the wrist.
Holes near the lugs that fasten the band to the case ensure breathability, helping to shed perspiration and give the watch a comfortable, airy fit that is great for exercise. The precision 5mm hole-spacing employed for the band allows for precise length adjustments, as well.
Offering Workout-Oriented Convenience
The GBD-200-1JF also boasts outstanding functionality.
Just pair with a smartphone via Bluetooth® to adjust distances captured by with the watch’s acceleration sensor using smartphone GPS. When the user adjusts this once, the watch will then measure distances with even higher degrees of accuracy,* even when not connected to a smartphone.
The watch also measures running pace and comes with an Auto lap feature that automatically keeps track of times over a set distance. When used with the dedicated G-SHOCK MOVE app, the watch offers great support for daily workouts, allowing users to check life logs with data on step counts and calories burned, activity logs, and more, right on the smartphone. The training log data stores up to 100 runs with up to 140 laps per run, including elapsed time, distance, pace, and calories burned. The life log data displays daily step count and monthly running distance.
*In comparison with distance measurements made by preceding Casio models using the accelerometer alone. Depends on the accuracy of the smartphone’s GPS function as well.
Other Features
Other features include shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, MIP LCD display, 38-city world time (38 time zones with auto DST setting + UTC), stop watch (1-second increments, max 99:59’59 with elapsed and split times), countdown timer (up to 5 timers with auto-repeat for interval timing, settable in 1-second increments, 60 minutes max per timer, auto start), 4 daily alarms with 1 snooze, button sound on/off, Super Illuminator LED light with afterglow (1.5 or 3 seconds), airplane mode, and vibration function. The battery life is approximately 2 years on a CR2032. The watch measures 49.4 x 45.9 x 15 millimeters and weighs approximately 58 grams.
The soft urethane band has holes near the lugs and wide buckle holes for ventilation, and there are curved resin wings under the watch case for a snug fit. You’re set to enjoy full-on function and complete comfort.
The GBD-200-1JF will appeal to those who want a smaller and less obtrusive fitness watch, and it is also a good option for women. The GBD-200-1JF also offers a front-facing light button for easy access. The light button is positioned on the case front for handy access to ensure an easy read during night workouts.
